ZOO4NAT Wildlife Rescue Conference - 2019/05/27

The 14 presenters come from 7 countries of 3 continents. As part of the excursion to the Bükk National Park on the 3rd day, several native animals healed in the new Rescue Center of Zoo Bp will be repatriated.

Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden invites professionals and interested non-professionals to our upcoming conference on wildlife rescue. Zoos and related institutions can support the field conservation work with their know-how on animal care, veterinary background and with providing professional facilities for the rescued/confiscated animals as well as with their education and communication activities. The international conference will focus on diverse aspects of rescuing native species and emphasize the supporting role of the ex-situ conservation institutions.
Some examples from the topics of the 14 lectures: conservation aspects in rescuing; reintroduction – repatriation – relocation; veterinary care; education related to rescue work; communication & marketing aspects. The Keynote Speaker is Dave Scott DVM is the Staff Veterinarian at Carolina Raptor Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. CRC is dedicated to the conservation of birds of prey admits close to 1.000 birds each year. Dr. Scott is also the author of the book "Raptor Medicine, Surgery and Rehabilitation". Mr Scott is the creator of the RaptorMed medical records program (www.raptormed.com) that is used worldwide to care for wildlife.
On the 3rd-day excursion beside the professional program held by the Bükk National Park, birds and mammals rescued in the new Rescue Center developed by the ZOO4NAT project in Zoo Budapest will be repatriated symbolically by the two directors of the project partner zoos of Kosice and of Budapest.
