Building Ipoly-bridge between Ipolydamásd - Chl'aba

The direct objective of the project is to extend road connections between Hungary and Slovakia by constructing a new Ipoly bridge between Ipolydamásd and Chl'aba (Helemba). One 58 m long bridge, a 540 m long connecting road in Hungary and a 175,22 m long connecting road in Slovakia will be constructed in the project. The following long-term indirect objectives were set for implementation of the project:

  • promoting economic and transport integration between the currently separated border regions,
  • building and strengthening economic relations between the border regions (increase employment in both directions, joint development, boost to business),
  • strengthening and development of cultural cooperation and community relations in the border regions,
  • improving the social situation, tourism development, mobility conditions, reducing territorial disparities.

The opening of border crossing point between Ipolydamásd and Chl’aba will shorten access to the TEN-T network primarily for the surrounding settlements (Szob, Márianosztra, Kóspallag, Leléd –Slovak side-). The new border crossing point will also provide better accessibility to the Danube, the M2 motorway, a new TEN-T network component, and will significantly improve the accessibility of the region. With the economic and social impacts of the development and better mobility and connectivity for the residents of the settlements by the border. In the partnership NIF plays the role of the lead partner and Nitra plays the role of the project partner. A good partnership is essential for project implementation, because a joint used bridge will be built over the Ipoly river.
