Cross-border network cooperation of stakeholders in herbal industry

Herbaland Network joins and helps the stakeholders’ network building interested in herbs production and utilization in the Hungary-Slovakia border area.

The aim of this project was to map out the available herbal markets along the Slovak-Hungarian border, the presentation of the most frequently occurring herbs in the region, as well as their main effects and characteristics. Another aim was to strengthen the relationship between herbal entrepreneurs and to establish a network of contacts for them.

The partners: Research Institute for National Strategy, Rába – Duna – Vág ETT, Regional Development Agency, North Komárno, Nagykapos and its Surroundings Association.

What we realized: 
Continuously expanded Online database with 230 herbal entrepreneurs on the base of effectuated data collection. The surveyed individuals are: farmers, product manufacturers, traders and educators. Anyone has the opportunity to join to the online database with filling it on the website (https://www.herbaland.net/hu/online-adatbazis).

Digital and offline maps: present by location and name the questioned actors.

Workshops, study tours, conferences, school lectures (20 pcs): Both teachers and students were active during the lectures, the attendance of Visitor Centres. The construction of network between the actors was started as a result of these events. 

Online teaching materials: for Upcoming Herbal Entrepreneurs and for Instructors.

Bilingual publication – “100 useful herbs” illustrated with coloured pictures. Focuses on characteristic herbs, presents their influences on health and their conditions of productions. 

“Best practices of herbs industry in Hungary and Slovakia” – bilingual image brochure, which presents 10-10 best practices from the two countries. 

Herbal support policy analysis in Slovakia and Hungary, suggestions: presentation of legislative background and support policy in Hungarian and Slovak languages.

Promotion of the project, presentation the project’s potentials: dissemination films (5 pcs), Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/herbalandnet/), website, offline advertisements.

Information centres at Velké Kapusany and Komárno – personal information points providing advice to interested parties.
